    Ripping Copy Protected CDs

Friends: I came across this issue a couple of weeks ago and wanted to make sure it was not a equipment issue. I started using an LG GE24LU20, got a LG GE24NU40 last week and just had got a Plextor PX-810UF today. The problem exists regardless of the external drive.

I have 4 CD's that I can rip in iTunes and Window's Media player but not in dBpoweramp. The all are copy protected. Since I can rip them in iTunes and WMP I'd think there is a way to configure dbpoweramp but I've not figured that out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Keith

    CD Ripper >> Options >>

    first try 'Defective by design'

    then try Burst ripping

then try Communication set to Windows Internal.

Communication set to Windows Internal appears to be the fix! I had tried burst and defective (per your earlier suggestions - didn't help). I'm ripping using Ultra secure. Many thanks! I'll see how it works on the rest of the problem CDs.

Setting the communication to "Internal Windows" has solved 95% of the problem. On thing that is consistently happening is that the when ripping in "secure mode" the last track always fails. My workaround has been to rip the last track by switching to "Defective by Design" for that last track. Is there any other adjustment I can make so I can rip all tracks at once?

        Thanks!

If you have Overread into lead in/out checked, uncheck it.

Thanks Spoon! The "leadin/out was not checked but when I loaded in a CD AccurateRip recalibrated the offset for the Plextor to +667. Now all of the CD's that skipped the last track are ripping it, again even in ultra secure mode. Does that make sense.

One other minor question. Does an "AR(71) mean that my rip matched 71 others in the database? If so, then the rip is pretty much 100% guaranteed to be correct - true?

Thanks again for all your help!

Yes on the ar71. And keep in mind that even ar1 essentially insures 100% accurate rip, assuming the rip in the database didn't come from you in the past. Large AR numbers are not needed to insure perfection.
