Error creating Vorbis with aoTuV (Error writing audio data to StdIn Pipe)

    Hi,

after using free DBPA for 7 years, I have installed the latest professional version.

Problem is: Encoding to Vorbis does not work with CDRipper.

Both aoTuV versions give me errors. The plain “Ogg Vorbis” one works. FLAC works as well.

I heard that the aoTuV version should sound better, so I decided to use these.

Hardware is Laptop Lenovo T520 (something like i5-2520M with dual-core), 4 GB RAM. OS is Win7 HP 64. I am ripping to a QNAP NAS.

I tried two different CDs, both give the same error

I uninstalled Vorbis and reinstalled, this time clicking on the executable with shift. I also rebooted. No difference.

The error message CDRipper gives me is:
Error ripping to ogg vorbis (aoTuV SSE3), 'Track 2' to 'N:\Audio\New\Sonny Stitt\Four Classic Albums; Sax Supremacy-Personal Appearance-Sits in with the Oscar Peterson\02 Sonny Stitt Quartet - Lazy Bones.ogg'
Error writing audio data to StdIn Pipe [clEncoder::EncodeBlock]

Potentially your security software might be blocking the encoder (it is oggenc2.exe in encoder\ogg vorbis (aoTuV SSE))

Don't think so. I don't have real-time virus software. Also, I can simply open a command prompt (no admin mode) and run the programs. Double-clicking in Explorer also works (the window closes immediately afterwards though.

If you open the command prompt and run oggenc2 it shows the options? (ie runs correctly)

yes, running it with "-h" gives me all options. So everything seems fine.

Rip one cd to wave, then make sure the wave file is 16 bit, 2 channel, 44KHz and try to convert that wave file to ogg.

Can dbpoweramp convert that wave file to ogg?

The Music Converter from DBPA did work as well. This encouraged me to do another test which I planned already yesterday: Test on local drive instead of NAS. The reason I did not test that yesterday is because the other Vorbis codec and FLAC did work on the NAS.

Well, result is: All Vorbis codecs do work on the local disk. The aoTuV ones do not work on the NAS. FLAC and plain Vorbis codec work on the NAS as well.

So what is the problem? The NAS has a drive letter under Windows associated, and this path is what I enter in DBPA. I can also move the files created on the local disk to the NAS, so it is not a file name issue.

The NAS is a QNAP TS 112P one bay. The NAS is connected via LAN to the Fritzbox router, the laptop of which I am ripping is WLAN.

Not sure, as far as programs are concerned a nas share and local disc are identical.

I thought so as well. All I can imagine is that there is a timing issue. Or some temp files written on other directories. Whatever it is, it is reproducible.

Anyway, what is your suggestion? Take it as given, it won't work? Or do you have more ideas?

                      Thanks so far!

Enable the debug option (dBpoweramp Configuration), you can see the exact command line passed to the encoder, and try yourself.

I did not find an option to debug in the program "Configure dBpoweramp". I did check the advanced options in there. Where should I be looking exactly?

BTW, is the exercise worth the effort? I.e. is aoTuV really superior to the other Vorbis codec?

                            Music Converter Tab, last option.

aoTuV is not hugely superior any more because a few revisions of standard Ogg back I seem to remember that many tunings were incorporated.

Sorry, must have missed the command.

So enclosed is the log: Not sure what to interprete, but I am not an expert (and don't want to become one in this subject). You got any idea?
