    aac vbr at 256 bitrate?

    Hi

I would like to rip some cds as AAC VBR at 256 bitrate but it only seems to go to 226 bitrate, cbr I can go very high.

I think itunes ripping I can do this but I would like to do it in dbpoweramp?

    cheers

The answer I got to this question is that those options simply are not in the FDK-AAC encoder. CBR allows you to go to that bitrate, VBR is restricted to 224kbps max.

If you are on a Windows or Mac machine, you could also search how to run the rip through qaac.exe (which is Apple's m4a encoder) in order to create 256kbps VBR AAC files.

In fact, I'm sure you can use dBpoweramp's Command Line Encoder to run the rip through qaac.exe. It requires installation of iTunes, but you'll get 256kbps AAC files same as you would using iTunes to encode, except that dBpoweramp has AccurateRip.
