I'm on Release 14.4 and see no reason to upgrade. Anyone else?

    Hi all

I'm the type of guy who doesn't like change. I'm still on XP!

I've just looked through the release notes for 15 and 15.1 and see nothing in either that makes me want to upgrade (well, tell a lie, there are two small things***). So I am going to stick with 14.4.

I was just thinking about this tonight and wondering who else out there takes the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" type attitude?

    Cheers

    Max

***These are the two small things that would be of interest that I mentioned:
    • FLAC able to detect corrupted files without md5. I'm not entirely sure what that means or how it differs from what happens in 14.4. But it sounds good!
    • Allow review metadata page even if did not get from internet. It might save 5 seconds of my time on the odd occasion.

Version 15 is mainly a bug fix build. If you're not having any issues with 14 then there's no need to change.

Personality, I like to encourage the developer by buying any new versions. I'll even do that with freeware developers.

      Here is the changelog: click!

You can evaluate on your own if you need the new version and its changes, but to call it just a bugfix isn't quite fair from my point of view.

I would actually say that the big thing about R15 is the 64 bit version.

(Which I do not need. Like the OP I still use XP - on the computer used for ripping, that is.)

I liked DBPA V15 so much that I re-ripped my entire (2,400) CD collection with it in 2014. With windows 7, I don't like the windows 8 UI as much, so hopefully with future versions I can use Mac OS X and eschew the VMWare Win7 almost entirely.

If he's not kidding he has severe OCD unless his prior rips were lossy.

Well, at least if it is the former it will make me feel better about my OCD!

some were lossy :-), some were done with EAC without accurate rip. what can I tell you, it was a labor of love, never to be repeated (hopefully!) !!!

Understand. and afterwards I thought that maybe your metadata (tags) may have been a mess and reripping solved that. For other readers, note that one would not now have to rerip LOSSLESS old rips to check with accuraterip. PerfectTunes now allows one to check your prior rips against the ACCURATERIP database. Very useful!

Nimbie autoloaders are perfect for this task, and work with Batch Ripper.

                          Hi all

Popped back here after quite some time away. I see several more versions have been released now and I'll head over to the changelog and have a look. In the meantime though, I wondered if anyone can point out any many changes I should be aware of?

I'm still on 14.4, I'm still on XP (gasp) and I'm still in the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" camp! Should I stick with that philosophy and stay as I am, or look into upgrading to the latest?

                          Cheers

I'm still on xp although only because I'm too tight to upgrade my old computer.
I want to install on this machine after my last laptop died from a blue screen.
On trying to install I get the following error message:

                              Ignore my last comment.
The technical problem was caused by the Homer Simpson factor - Doh!
