Can't perform secure rips with new drive

I just purchased an LG GE24NU40 external drive and I can do burst rips with it just fine. Secure rips on any disc do not work it just sits there at "Pass 1 Ripping 0%" forever on the first track. Skipping to other tracks doesn't help. What could be wrong? My previous LG drive worked just fine.

If c2 pointers are enabled, disable. If over-read is enabled, disable.
