    dynamic tags for Aamzon Cloud?

I wish to set up classical music albums with ALL discs in a Collection to be listed under the main cover, so when I click on the cover, each disc is listed successively in the album, and NOT under a separate albums with disc numbers. So a 10 album collection would list Disc 1 and all the tracks for that disc, then disc 2, those tracks, etc.

I have had luck with this layout in iTunes. But when I upload the same collection in the same ripping order to Amazon Cloud Player, the multiple discs are broken into tracks, with, 10 track 1's, then 10 track 2's, all out of order.

Any suggestions how to overcome this issue?? I dread having to rerip all albums to customize them for Amazon (I am trying both cloud services, iTunes and Amazon, to see which one will ultimately serve my needs best. It seems iTunes is winning.

Just FYI, I'm using the following tag code to organize discs and tracks, and perhaps that could be edited to satisfy BOTH iTunes and Amazon.... But I don't know how to do that. (I just copied the "dynamic" tagging code from someone's suggestion in these forums.

    [IFCOMP]Compilations\[album] [IFMULTI] \Disc [disc][]\[track]-[title]-[artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI] \Disc [disc][]\[track]-[title][]

    Thanks for any help!

what if you put disk number in front of track number. So everywhere you have: [track]-[title], instead put:

    [disc].[track]-[title]

You don't need to rerip to name. I think using the convert to dsp, ARRANGE AUDIO will rename files and/or directories. So pick a couple of multi cds, use the dynamic naming to modify file name as above, and then see if they are handled correctly. You can also use mp3tag...load up albums, use convert TAG to FILENAME and mask of %disc%.%track%-%title%. You can use preview to check what it will do. Once happy, you can do all your files in a batch.

Thanks Garym!! I'll give that a good try. I'm still new to the incredible flexibility of dbpoweramp, so I may be back in a few days asking for further instructions... )

And for new rips, you could try this:
        [IFCOMP]Compilations\[album] [IFMULTI] \Disc [disc][]\[disc].[track]-[title]-[artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI] \Disc [disc][]\[disc].[track]-[title][]

first install the ARRANGE AUDIO dsp from Codec Central (see link at top of forum page)
next, run dbpa Music converter program (not the ripper program) select the files you want to rename (i.e., an entire album), then click OPEN on the popup. Then in the conversion screen, used "convert to" dropdown at to to select ARRANGE AUDIO. Fill in the root path and arrangement as we discussed (use the "set" command next to those items). Then at bottom of screen, select "convert". This will NOT change the audio at all, just rename the file (and can also move to different directory, if you wish).

Re: dynamic tags for Aamzon Cloud?

hmm, so far i've installed the arrange audio dsp, picked singe tracks (it will not let me choose a folder), then I chose the root (...same as the files I selected???) entered [album] - [album artist] - [disc] - [track] - [title] (I also tried it album artist first), but it separated those tracks into newly created folders (with individual arts names), not what I want.

I am very, very limited if I can only choose individual tracks. That's the main issue.

And if it creates MORE folders, it's not helping.

Should I use the much longer dynamic tag list you suggested for "new rips"?

hmmm, something's wrong, you should be able to select folders (heck, you should be able to select an upper level directory containing all your music folders) and run this. If you select ind files, you'll get a new folder for every file!

yes, the longer string should work for new rips, try a few rips and see if it produces the outcome you want.

Thanks garym, what I meant was, should I use the long dynamic tag list to arrange audio? (I chose 10 tracks form the first disc of the album, and it created separate folders for each artist, which in this case was two artists. So it created two folders, not one for each track.)

When I open music converter, it takes me to choose folders, then opens the folder to show the tracks, etc. It will not show the converter until I have chosen individual tracks. (I could send a screen shot, but don't know how here.)

sorry, use the BATCH music converter (different dbpa program). No, the long string was for new RIPS. For the arrange audio, look at the earlier posts in this thread where I layed out the general idea of what you'd use there...

Well, I reripped an 8-disc album using the string you suggested, and Amazon still uploaded it as many separate albums. And there was STILL several track 1,1,1,2,2,2, etc in the first album (under the main artist name). The other albums were differentiated by performing ARTIST, but I don't want that, I want all performing artists listed, but UNDER the MAIN ARTIST, which is the same for the whole 8 discs. And I was very careful to list the album composer the same on each disc, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work.

you should be using ALBUM ARTIST (or ALBUMARTIST) and COMPILATION field = 1 if this is a compilation (tracks have some differing performing artists). Make sure you put the main artist in the ALBUM ARTIST tag for all those tracks. You can see that in dbpa tag editing or in mp3tag.

and you say AMAZON treated it a certain way, but what about a local player (foobar2000, winamp, or itunes, wmp, or whatever). How did a local player treat it. Trying to separate the tagging issue (which you need to get right first) from any separate issue with Amazon cloud. Don't use amazon (or any) cloud, so not familiar with things that may be happening there.

Ahh, well iTunes has been just fine with the organization with the original tag string you gave me. So I guess the problem is how Amazon handles it. But the Album artist and compilation suggestion might work to correct the Amazon problem.

The way I have set it up the "Collected works of..." all along is: Compilation=0, UNCHECKED; Album is [album name], and is same for each disc in the album (disc number is only noted in Disc); Album Artist is the composer, along with Composer; Artist is <various artists>.
