    Delimiter for multiple artists

What is standard separator for multiple artists typed in artist field? I user comma and ampersand. My juke box tool does not generate songs grouped by artist properly. I want to make sure to follow standard if any avilable. Is it semicolon or slash?

If I need to modify artist value to replace comma with semicolon, is it possible to run automatically without manually replacing one by one? Appreciate for input.

It is format & tag dependant, dbpoweramp standardizes on:

    artist1; artist2

and behind the scenes it will convert to the right format for the tag.

Appreciate quick reply. Unfortunately, I should have know this before. I will redo to put semi colon and space between artists as shown here.

GV Prakash Kumar; Ajmal Khan; Amrith Viswanath

I hope space between first name and last name should be ok. I am using Dune Music Manager (DMM) tool and I liked it so far. It had problem to use comma between artists. It is required to use either slash or semi colon. I will stick to semi colon and space.

Is there any limit on the number of characters stored Artist meta field? I am thinking to append value of composer and album artist into "artist" filed of each song. My Dune player only shows file name, value of artist and value of year. I am surprised why media players are not able to show any other meta data.

Do you know any players that show meta data other than title, artist and year?

Almost any will. I've not heard of a dune player. My Logitech squeezebox players show lots more metadata for example.

Thanks for the info. Then, I don't want to messup to just make it work with Dune player. I will just follow the standard to separate multi valued meta tag with space and semicolon. Dune player is very good for playing blu-ray/dvd from hard disk. I knew that it is not great to serve audio. I will wait either Dune to fix or buy any new players.

The Squeeze box is out of stock/production. Only option I know is Sonos which is little expensive. Appreciate to share any other media players that are good at showing meta data
