    How to Change Album Art

Sorry, but this newbie is lost again. The album art options from "Choose Art" do not include that album art I want to use (Original Master Recording). I have scanned the cover and created a .jpg file. How do I import/embed this new art to replace the one that dBpoweramp created/installed?

I have searched the forum and came across answers that suggest to use "Edit: tags" or "ID: Update", etc. But where do I find these commands? Another post suggested right clicking in Windows Explorer, but I can't find any option there either. I just installed dBpoweramp Tag Update, but running that only takes me to a "Help" page. Under DSP settings, I see an "Import Art" function and pointed to the file I scanned. but nothing happened. In specific steps, can someone please tell me how to do this. Thanks.

with regards to when you are ripping the CD and want your own art, look at the lower right side on the ripping screen. Instead of "choose art" select the "+" sign and it will let you browse to any local jpg file you have that you want to use. Browse to that file, select and then it will be used for that album.

changing artwork: in windows explorer, go to the actual files themselves (not the folder that holds the files, i.e., the ALBUM folder). Select all the files in that folder, then right click and you should see edit ID tag option. on that popup you can edit (remove, add, etc.) the artwork. Also, if you're just using a copy of the folder.jpg or cover.jpg in the album subdirectory, simply delete the jpg that's there and put the one you want in that subdirectory (with the name folder.jpg or cover.jpg)

Sorry, garym, after selecting all the files in Windows Explorer and right clicking, I don't see any "edit ID" option listed.

The method I have been using to insert my own album art has been to delete the .jpg folder and replace it with my own .jpg folder. After doing that, if I play the files in Windows Media Player, it shows my own album art. But, when the album gets imported into J River Media Center, it shows different album art. So, would that mean this is a J River issue?

you might try reinstalling dbpa (on top of existing install). It should show up. Regarding jriver and wmp: yes, it is their problem, not dbpa. And I suspect this is actually a WMP problem. I wouldn't let wmp touch my files. It does nasty things (in particular, it wants to add its own, usually low quaility, artwork to files that are opened with WMP. It also trys to "update" the metadata tags. You can go into wmp settings and try to turn these things off, but even that is hard. Best to never, ever open any audio files with wmp. JRiver should be fine. You can test. rip a cd, add the artwork you want from your own file and then open in Jriver (without ever letting wmp touch the files). Your art should be fine.

p.s. consider another player for windows (isn't jriver a player too?). If not, consider foobar2000 (that's what I use) or winamp.

If you must use WMP, you should at least go into windows explorer, select ALL your music files, and then right click, select properties, and make them all READ ONLY. At least WMP can't mess with your tags that way.

a few random examples from a google search. Some old items, but you get the gist of the issue:

I'm using WMP 11 on Windows Vista and I'm having this problem with Album Art that is driving me insane... I've already searched a lot and couldn't find anything that could help me out. I have all my album art embedded in the mp3 files, in the ID3 tags. This tag art is read just fine by WMP, Media...

Make sure you have not selected folder.jpg as that is not an audio track.
