How can I get a secure rip of a CD in the AR database with no confidence?

    Hello,

I am new to dbpower amp cd ripper and have a couple of questions about the accurate rip db, and rips.

Out of a 9 disc boxed set of CDs: seven (7) of the discs ripped as accurate: no issues (AccurateRip: Accurate (confidence XXX)); however two of the discs are problematic. Both discs show as being in the accurate rip data base prior to the rip. When I rip, I get secure rips for all tracks (see example below), but no verification with the AR database.

How can the disc show as being in the AR database, I get a secure rip, but no agreement with the accurate rip database ? I understand if the disc is not in the database I will get the "X" and AR - there is nothing to compare the rip to. I understand if the disc is damaged and I get a bad rip. But how can I get both a secure rip, but neither a disagreement, or agreement with a disc that was reported to be in the data base? Surely I would get either a report that people disagreed with the rip or a AccurateRip: Accurate (confidence XXX) report.

The following data is what is showing up on all ripped tracks:

    Track 1: Ripped LBA 0 to 12589 (2:47) in 1:44. Filename: C:\Users\root\Desktop\Nat King Cole\Ramblin' Rose-Dear Lonely Hearts\01 Nat King Cole - Ramblin' Rose.wav
    Secure [Pass 1 & 2, Ultra 1 to 3]
    CRC32: 92ED3EDA AccurateRip CRC: 917219F3 (CRCv2) [DiscID: 025-00397d52-0402d140-650eb419-1]

The disc might have a different pressing which is out of the range which can be checked against.

I understand different pressings, but what does "out of the range that can be checked against" mean?

And if the other versions of the album are in the database, but a particular pressing is not, why does the program report that the particular album is in the AR database ?

Because pressings only differ in audio data, the identification (CD layout) are identical between pressings, so it can be identified as in the database when that disc is a different pressing - until the disc is actually ripped a comparison cannot be made. Think of it as a street address, multiple people (pressings) can live at the same address.

Normally pressings are cross checked, but if the pressing offset is too great (more than 5 sectors) it cannot be checked against.

Pressings differ by having the audio stream just offset to the left or right. dBpoweramp does not check more than a reasonable distance. There might be that some discs manage to escape that.

By the way, it seems to happen sometimes that different masterings use the same TOC. Then the audio simply is different.
