Replay Gain

Hi:

Someone in another post mentioned replay gain. Being new to DBPowerAmp CD Ripper, I was not aware of this and have simply been ripping my CDs without any DSP.

Since I am not familiar with replay gain, I would appreciate it if someone could explain this to me and let me know if I have missed something. Note that I have been ripping CDs to FLAC Image + cue.

Thanks for the links. From what I read, I do not think I have to be concerned with replay gain. I am ripping my CD collection to FLAC Images + Cue. If anything happens to the original CD, I can burn a CD-R from the cue.

Yes, not needed. But I like RG. My players (in my case either Squeezeboxes or foobar2000) will use the RG tag info to adjust the volume of the FLAC playback on my system. Particularly useful when playing a random mix from different albums (which may have very different volumes). If you are just backing up CDs and not actually playing the FLAC files, RG is not relevant.
