Recently installed dbpoweramp, and I am confused by the wav encoder in CD Ripper. In the wav encoder when the "uncompressed" radio button is selected, I notice that one can leave bits and Khz "as source". Alternatively, however, one can set bits to 8, 16, 24, 32, or 32 IEEE float, and one can also select from a variety of Khz settings from 8 to 192. I don't understand the point of these choices. Can anyone explain? Under what circumstances would ripping any physical CD to anything other than 16 bits and 44.1 Khz make sense?
