Apple USB CD/DVD-ROM for ripping CDs using dBpa

Hi All - I am currently using an external Samsung SE-S204 drive to rip my CDs using dBpa. However, I find the USB drive manufactured by Apple to be very convenient (no external power supply). The Samsung drive does not cache but the Apple drive caches 4KB. Is this an issue for creating bit-perfect rips or does dBpa cancel out the 4KB caching? In other words, is the Apple drive a good choice to rip CDs with. Thanks all! Nubben

If you leave the cache value as 1024KB then caching is not an issue with any drive.

Thanks Spoon. Sorry, just so that I'm not misunderstanding you - what you're saying is that as long as the drive cache is not set to greater than 1024kb then the caching will not be a problem or do you mean that I should manually set it to 1024kb although when I set up the drive dBpa automatically detects 4kb.

Please let me know - thanks!

Setting to 1024KB is best, as it means the cache is removed with any drive, so you cannot get it wrong. The overhead on a CD Re-read is not that great.
