Can't Rip From External CD Drive

I have been ripping CDs using a Dell laptop with its internal CD drive. Recently that drive has been getting a bit balky physically, so I bought an external USB optical drive: an Asus SDRW-08D2S-U. I now have a problem: dbpoweramp's ripper cannot rip any files using the new optical drive --the ripper displays "error" for every track .

CDs *play* fine, using dbpoweramp CD Ripper's player and using Windows Media Player. Also, Windows Media Player will rip CDs to my laptop's internal harddrive using the external CD drive--however, dbpoweramp will not rip using the Asus external drive. I've tried several different CDs, with no success.

In addition, I cannot calibrate the external drive, despite trying several CDs I would have thought are common enough to possibly work.

I haven't found any useful ideas on Asus's website, in the help files for dbpoweramp, or in this forum.

    Help!

Try disabling c2 pointers if they are enabled.

Re: Can't Rip From External CD Drive

I just discovered and solved the problem--a software setting that I hadn't noticed seems to somehow have gotten changed when I switched from the internal drive to the new external one; I changed it back, and the Asus drive works fine (with c2 pointers enabled, BTW). My mistake, ultimately--sorry to have troubled you.
