Problems ripping Track *1 on Different CDs to FLAC

I seem to be having a problem with ripping track *1 on multiple CDs. It takes a long time, and the track ends up coming out insecure. I have 2 identical drives and the problem occurs with both drives.

Running W7 64Bit w / all updates.
ESET Smart Security 6
dBPoweramp 14.4

Drives: 2 x HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-E40L External DVD-RAM drives - Firmware SE-02

This one CD shown below was the most extreme so far of 84 CDs. It took over 4 hours to rip. Track 1 took over 2 hours. Tracks 7 and 8 also took a long time. But this is the first CD I have seen with tracks other than 1 taking a long time to rip.

If you have c2 pointers enabled try disabling.

It would be nice if you had a non identical drive to test against. (different brand)

I have an old ASUS DRW-1814BL DVD Burner in my closet, I'll dig it out and give it a try. My be a day or two before I post back.

BTW, what would you recommend as the best Internal Bluray burner for ripping CDs to FLAC?

Well, looks like the GSA-E40L drives are culprit. They are real junk for ripping. Installed the Asus, got it set up, and the CD that took 4 hours was re-ripped in 5 minutes. Thanks for your help.
