    MetaData Not Available

I have a situation where I attempted to re-rip a CD previously successfully ripped by DBPA CD Ripper.
There is now is no meta data available. No matter how many times the data is refreshed.

The only two changes between the last rip and this attempted one is :

    1) new CD/DVD-RW drive
    2) minor upgrade from version 14.3 to 14.4

As a side-note this new drive successfully ripped a CD which the old drive could not rip, without severe distortion.
Also, with the previous software version and using the old drive, I found zero CD's out of 800+ for which no meta data was available.

    Suggestions appreciated.

Look in dBpoweramp Configruation, it should say 'Reference Registered'' for you to be getting all the metadata.

Sorry, I have no idea where to find the "Configuration" link. The only portion of the software I am familiar with is CD Ripper and see nothing like that there.

Keep in mind this is only one out of the 25 CD's I tried which exhibited this symptom

I believe I found what you reference.

It says dbpoweramp Music Converter: Registered Reference Release 14.3

It says 14.3, not 14.4, try to uninstall then reinstall.

            Uninstalled, reinstalled. Now says 14.4.

problem remains. This particular CD has zero meta data.

Please read first sentence, first post. This CD has meta data because I previously ripped the CD and have the file (with meta data) in my J River MJ library.

I was trying to re-rip as test for my new CD/DVD drive. This is first CD I tried and it failed.
As I also said, it is the only one of about 25 which did fail.

On some CDs certain drives read the track lengths differently (bugs in drive firmware) if this happens the disc appears unique as the track lengths are used to get metadata, in cd ripper is a frame count column enable it and compare old and new systems.

enabled frame rate and copied the frame rates new drive

                    went back to original drive

                    refresh meta data

                    examined frame rates old drive

                    identical frame rates all tracks

                    still no meta data

time to look at something other than the drives

now nothing different except updated dbpa

                      Further update:

I tried the CD on a third drive, and had same results. Surely there must be a reason for this behavior, that is not drive-related.

If nothing else, is offered, can you tell me how I, as a registered owner of your software, can find and install earlier versions.

In which version of CDRipper did you previously rip this CD?

                        Which CD is this?

Ordered DBPA on 2/7/13. Order confirmation just says R14. Other than that, I do not know what exact version number was before I did the upgrade.

CD is Sony Holland's "On a San Francisco High" Van Ness Music Productions * 007

                          thank you

Perhaps the databases (online) have changed in the time. The software has not had any changes to metadata for any R14 release (except for MusicBrainz character replacements).

Is there any way that the 'databases' can be queried as to whether or not there is actually any data for this particular CD?

I cannot fathom why data would be eliminated.

I just saw this particular CD as possibly the 'tip of the iceberg' in a bigger problem,
but I guess the only conclusion now must be "it ain't us, it's them"

                              Thanks for replies
