no, one can spit a single flac with cue file into multiple tracks with no loss. still lossless. The one time I used cuetools, it also created a 00. HTOA track (which was not anything that played). Not sure why it did that, but didn't cause issues with other tracks created. Also, foobar2000 can convert a single flac/cue into separate flac tracks tool

you can even confirm this. if the album is in accurraterip database, after split into separate tracks, run perfecttunes on the album and you should get a match.

Note that this is generally true with a program that can split singlefile/cue file properly. I'm sure there are some programs floating around that don't do it correctly. But cuetools and foobar2000 certainly work. And your accuraterip matches above confirmed that it worked.

No. Lossless is lossless. WAV=FLAC=ALAC. And even if you convert a lossy file (mp3, m4a) to WAV, you won't lose any quality. The WAV file will contain exactly what the lossy file contained (albeit in a much larger file container).
