Upgraded to latest version and CD ripper stopped working

I tried repeatedly to renew my access to AMG and got nowhere. To kill two birds with one stone I accepted the offer to upgrade to the latest version (from 13.2).
I downloaded the upgrade, installed it and restarted the computer as instructed. Now the CD ripper will access AMG, but it will not rip. It just goes to straight to "CPU Encoding" for the first two tracks, and stays on 0%. I am not very pleased as I had a few CDs to rip and this has neatly stymied me, as I don't want to use an inferior CD ripper.:(
Constructive suggestions on solving this issue would be appreciated.

...also how to do a full reset of dBpoweramp? (if dBpoweramp crashes for some reason) Where does dBpoweramp save its files / settings? It is installed to c:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp or c:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp The 64 bit version of dBpoweramp is installed to: c:\Program Files\dBpoweramp It

This will reset all settings, run it then reinstall and try ripping with default settings.

Hi Spoon, thanks for the quick response. I ran the reset utility, and checked Add/Remove also. According to Add/Remove nothing was removed. I ran the 14.4 install again.
I attempted another rip, using the default settings. No change, as before it showed "CPU Encoding" for the first two tracks, and though the progress on the top of the window showed 15% progress overall, the individual tracks stayed on 0% until 1 minute thirty seconds when track 1 showed a red cross and "error", and the CPU moved on to track three. After another ten seconds or so this was repeated for track two and the CPU moved on to track four.
At this point I checked the folder created in My Music. Apart from the cover art it is empty. I know the feeling. I then cancelled he rip as it was obviously not working.
I am going to use Add/Remove, and run the Reset utility to remove registry entries. Then another test. I will report back when I have done this.

Which security software do you have? and you are ripping to the Music Folder? (local HDD)?

Re: Upgraded to latest version and CD ripper stopped working

I am running Avast free AV. I also have Spybot, MalwareBytes Anti Malware, and Super Antispyware. None of these appeared to impede 13.2, except that lately it would only rip one track at a time, while when converting (from WAV to FLAC) it uses both cores.
The test rips you have suggested are to the local drive, My Music in My Documents on the C drive, as you suggested default settings. The removal and reinstallation made no difference, with the results being a carbon copy of my previous post, even the time taken for the "Error" to appear. The error log mentioned the Core Converter. The destination previously was on a separate HDD, most of my music resides on a separate physical drive.
I have no appetite to reinstall Windows as I suspect you may be going to suggest, and I don't see why the security software would be an issue unless it is a conflict with 14.4 that 13.2 does not have. I would prefer to try reinstalling 13.2 to that. In fact that will probably be my next step, after I have made dinner, it is that time of day downunder. If that works I will be asking for a refund on the price of 14.4, all I really wanted was the AMG access, and now I am snookered.

Security software are often the cause of a program not working, they can silently block the program from running as should.

Well reinstalled 13.2 and exactly the same result.
I feel the frustration of one who has shot himself in the foot, and done a good job.
Any of the security apps you would care to point the finger at? And why would this happen only when I updated? That's very puzzling.
I am well fed but strangely not satisfied.

Back to normal. I restore the registry backup from yesterday and now the CD Ripper is working fine, happy ending.:smile2:
