    Questions about flac ripping

I have a couple questions about dbpoweramp relative to ripping cds in flac format. After it has ripped a track it will have the word accurate and a number like accurate(4). What does that mean? Secondly at the bottom of the screen there is a window that says flac encoding and there is a level, I have mine set at default (which I think is 5) but what are the advantages/disadvantages to setting it higher or lower?

    Re: Questions about flac ripping

AccurateRip confidence means that 4 other persons have gotten the same rip as yours, which means that the rip is error-free. (You really need no more than 1, unless you re-rip something you have submitted yourself.)

The FLAC settings is something completely unrelated. The only advantage of using 5 rather than the maximum 8, is that it encodes faster. (Decoding speed is for all practical purposes the same -- FLAC decodes at extremely low CPU resources, lower than mp3.) The advantage of 8, is that it squeezes the same data into slightly smaller disk space. Not by much though, but since encoding is done only once and is quite fast in any case, I always use the 8 level.
