Suggestions on creating my own albums ?

If, for example, I want to create an album called "selected van Morrison 2004-2007" how should I do that?

    - don't want iTunes playlist because dont always use iTunes
    - don't really want amarra playlist but might use that since I 90% time use amarra in playlist mode

I would leave the original album rips intact although sometimes if I hate a song I just delete them.

    Playlists are required.

because you want to leave the original album intact, you must either create a playlist with desired songs, or you can make a copy of the desired songs, then change the tags on these songs so that they all have a new ALBUM name (i.e., "selected van morrison...) and you can order in any order and change the track numbers. Playiist is a better idea, but latter method works too....

Thanks Gary. Creating copies seems unwieldy, so I guess playlist is better. However, as I tend to clean up (correct tags, etc) and add new material to my cd library from time to time, in which case iTunes library is deleted and then re read the whole list, I think I would lose any iTunes playlist.. I think (particularly since I have duplicate hard drives where I keep my music).

Also.. Just to know .. I keep my music on a laptop and then transfer to a hard drive I plug into Mac mini. If I create iTunes playlists on my laptop, is there a way to transfer those playlists to the Mac mini (via the hard drive).

you can save, export, import itunes playlists all you want. Haven't done it in a long while, but used to do this with itunes all the time.
