ISRC Net Found

Few if any CDs that I've ripped contain ISRC data even though I've selected it in the metadata options list. Why is this? Does it take a special CD drive to read it? Are artists and producers failing to obtain ISRC data for their releases? What's up with this? What should I do to correct the problem, if it can be corrected?

It might be drive related, or how the drives connect to the system (such as USB chipset removing this functionality).
