Why do some CD's rip SO SLOW when they are in perfect condition?

I can't understand this. Perfect CD but it's ripping at 1.5x! That is just ridiculous, I can almost listen to it that fast. What's the deal. BTW this is in burst mode even, I'd hate to think of this in secure.

Why does the audio not extract at max speeds when there are no defects on the disk? I really wish there were some FAQ's on this site for questions like this because I know I'm not the only one to have these questions and asking in the forum is a waste of my time and waste of the responders time. Make me regret purchase.

Manufacturing defects on the outer edge which sets the ripping speed for the whole disc (by the cd drive). Changing cd drive might help.

I have probably 10,000 CDs. For many years the first time I use the CD is to rip it. So one could argue that these "fresh out of case" CDs are "perfect". But I can say that maybe only 7 out of 10 CDs rip perfectly the first pass. The others have an issue with one or two tracks. Eventually, I can usually get a secure rip on the problem tracks, but the point is that even new CDs have mfg defects. And with these new CDs, some rip at high speed, some lower. Just depends.
