Problem with ripping dbp 14.3 and Plextor PX-L890UE

    Hello,
i am new to dbp and just bought it. English is not my native language. Please excuse my bad english.
I am a engineer and have some knowledge about this stuff, but i am not an expert.
I readed all about secure ripping in the manuals of this side. My drive supports C2. I did (hopefully) the correct basic settings for secure Ripping.(No chache, C2 Support, no FUE, etc.) offset is +6 and similar with foobar or eac. I tried different setting for Ultra secure, especially the ones are mentioned in help text or guide papers.
    Now my Problems:
Every CD ripping stops at one Track with reporting "Pass 1 ripping 99%" Depending on settings it take some minutes and than this track stopps ripping with error (Just Error, no information about Accurate Rip) . All other tracks are normally ripped. Some shows switching to Ultra secure 1 or 2 ripping and/or rereading Frames. After this its Ripped correctly with accurate rip. I tried old CD, new CD, CD without any vissible damange, CDwith some scratches. at every CD i have exactly one Track that cannot be ripped. When i look to these discs with Plexutilities, some show C2 errors, other show no C2 errors. Some show no damange on surface, some show some damange on surface. But even trying a CD with no C2 errors and no damange on surface, ripping stops at one track without using Ultra secure Mode.
When i disable C2 support ripping work correctly also for this problem track for all CD. My disc drive Support C2 and is quite new and unused.

    Log show this error code:
Information ripping to FLAC, 'Track 2' to 'D:\Daten\Musik\dbpoweramp\Genesis\Invisible Touch\02 Genesis - Tonight, Tonight, Tonight.flac'
    Track 2: ERROR Ripping LBA 15755 to 55772 (8:53) in 2:30. Filename: D:\Daten\Musik\dbpoweramp\Genesis\Invisible Touch\02 Genesis - Tonight, Tonight, Tonight.flac
Unable to read CD, check CD disc (frame LBA 55769 ripping 4 frames track end LBA 55772)

My question is: What is Wrong? Did i make a stupid mistake? Do i need other settings? Do this plextor drive not support C2 properly? Using foobar and EAC didn't give me this Problems. But i like dbp much more because of the comfortable handling and good quality for FLAC.

It would be very nice to get some help. I tried for complete weekend and can't find what is wrong myself. Because of my Drive i would like to ripp with C2 support.
    Best wishes
    Günter

Is track 2 the last track on the disc?

      Thank you for fast answer.
This disc has 16 Tracks. its 2 of 16. Other tracks are ok, but i didn't copy the log to the thread. I tried about 6 discs. Every disc shows this error but at different Tracks. But it never happened to the first or last track on disc. When i try same disc again and again it happens always at the same track (for this disc track 2). I did some more tests. The CD drive is a external usb drive. Maybe thats the Problem? when using option
When using C2 option with 8kB Transfer for C2 pointer over USB i get errors for all tracks.

Now i tried same setting with my (cheap) internal Dell-Disc-Drive (i don't know the real manufactor, its shown as HL-DT-ST - DVD+-RW GH50N) and use C2 support with new offset and shown cache Size ( 38 kB) ripping work for all my Discs.

But i would prefer using the Plextor Drive
Do you have any Idea what is happening with my ripping?

      Thank you
      Guenter

        Try without c2 enabled.

This error is a failure of the drive to rip less sectors at the end (we might ask for 64 sectors, but if asking for 4 it fails, this should never happen).

thank you. without c2 enabling it works without errors. But just for my understanding why can some drives handle correct (like my cheap Dell-internal drive) and some other like my external Plextor run into failure? Does it mean my Plextor is defect or does it not support the protocol in correct way and it isn't defect but can't handle C2 pointers.

I ask also because i would i have quite a lot of CDs and want to build my digital archive. Unfortunably some of my (good old) CDs got bad surface by time. I spent some money in good analog equipment and are looking for good quality for streaming tracks. This is why i did a lot of testing like foobar, eac and now decided for dbp. Will i get worse quality not using C2? Should i look for a drive supporting C2 correctly or can it happen to any CD-Drive? What does it mean when in the ripping surface the Checksum appear green and sometimes it stay black?

Thank you for answering some of my questions.

I would say there is a defect somewhere yes.

Not if they are verified by accuraterip

              Hello,
thank you for answering ripping without C2 work for my plextor. I think i found the real problem:

I tried second Plextor PX-L890UE from a friend. He is also working on ripping strategy. His Plextor drive showed the same behaviour working with my dbpoweramp. Without C2 it works, With C2 ripping stop at same tracks.
Then i tried my Plextor with SATA interface connected instead of USB. And mow also C2 is working correctly. So it seems for Plextor Drive SATA connection is needed and USB dont't work with C2. Maybe this configuration is helpful also for other.
