It could indicate the c2 is not working, try the c2 over usb check box.

First we have heard of it.

Re: Problem ripping with dbPowerAmp 14.3 on Macbook Pro?

I have installed the trial version of Parallels and configured it with direct access to the Matshita drive and I am still getting the same error. I had even gone back to v 14.2, and have now removed that and cleaned the registry and I'm about to reinstall 14.3 and reconfigure that.

I have also noticed that when I eject a disc from within dbpa, the drive mechanism keeps going about 5 times after the disc has ejected. When I do a normal eject from within Finder or Windows Explorer, it just ejects as normal without any excess whirring. Is this right?

It suggests standard SCSI calls are not working correctly (outside of ripping)

So I have now reinstalled and tried the C2 over usb check box and it seems to work. Why would this be and what does this indicate?

Is this particular to dbPA since other apps seem to work ok? Would that explain the extended whirring of the drive after a disc is ejected? I actually does it six times.

FYI, it is a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-8A8 drive. Is this maybe a new drive to market that has this issue?

I do not know, we know the eject is very simple code (3 lines) and works on the other ~ 4000 drive models in existence.

It's almost as thought the checking of C2 error detection is not working as it responds immediately instead of taking time to inspect the disc. It is a disc that I have used for a few years that I have configured as you explain about putting the black triangle on the surface.

There is definitely something specific to dbpa that makes the drive keep whirring after ejecting a disc through the "eject" button on the application. If I press the eject button on the keyboard, the disc ejects fine with no additional noise. Using the application to eject the disc, or setting it to eject after ripping, causes the extra 6 cycles of the eject mechanism. Could there be an issue with how the application accesses the hardware which could be related to the c2 error?

I would say they are both related yes.

Is there anything further you can offer to identify why your application might cause the eject mechanism issue? Any way of testing? Has anyone else had this issue that you are aware of?

Is there any chance that you could do some testing on this issue? I do appreciate that it's not a top priority and that you probably don't offer any support for the Mac environment.
