    Rip to single file

Because of the problems with playing back "gapless" albums (e.g. Dark Side of The Moon) I'm wondering if I can rip a CD to a single file. I haven't spotted an option for doing this, if it is there.

    thanks

Ripping to single file has not been needed for gapless for many years. FLAC files ripped to separate tracks will play gapless on most modern players (squeezeboxes, sonos, foobar2000, winamp, etc.). And even mp3 and m4a files can play gapless as separate tracks on these players and even on itunes. What codec files and what player are you using?

I either want to play locally on the stock player on my android phone (if there's a player which will do gapless I'd be very interested to hear about it), or streamed to my hifi from a NAS drive.

can't speak to android phones although I'd be surprisesd that there would be no apps that could play files back gapless on a phone. streaming to hifi from NAS includes lots of ways to stream. But I assume you are using standard DLNA/UpNp. Unfortunately, this is a very "crippled" method of streaming audio with none of the bells and whistles of more feature rich methods. Standard DLNA doesn't do gapless as far as I know. Some systems have workarounds that allow gapless via DLNA and use of playlists, etc.. I think even ASSET from ILLUSTRATE will handle gapless via DLNA, but I'm not a user so can't be sure.

To get Cd Ripper to "Rip as 1" just click on the Rip As button just to the right of the compilation tick box (under the help button).

UPnP is not gapless unless the player holds the playlist (and most do not).
