Very small FLAC files (that won't play)

    Hi,

I've ripped several thousand CDs using dBpoweramp and it has been almost faultless - sure, there have been a few "problem" discs, but on the most part that has been down to manufacturing defects and so on.

I've just been trying to rip a new (to me) CD - "Overexposed" by Maroon 5 and I'm experiencing something I've not come across before.
The CD is in the AccurateRip database. The first two tracks ripped fine and have an "Accurate" status.
The remaining tracks have a status of "Secure", yet the resulting files are really small and do not play at all.
For example (output of track 3)...

    1 Tracks Ripped Securely

Any ideas what's going on? The software estimates the filesize to be 30,766KB, yet it has generated a file of 284KB. I'm bemused...

    Thanks in advance,
    Ian.

It ripped that track in 3 seconds, which is a bit too quick for a 3 minute track, it suggests that the track cannot be read (all the data is zeros). Try a different cd drive if you have one.

      Hi,
Thanks muchly for the quick reply. Does it make a difference that I'm able to play the tracks directly from the CD using a media player? I don't have access to another drive at the moment - I've already wrecked one doing all this ripping!
      Cheers,
      Ian.

Not always as the CD drive can be playing the track in audio mode, rather than data mode.
