OGG won't play in VLC.

I'm trying out dBpoweramp...

I've ripped some CDs to OGG and I find that they won't play in VLC. OGG files that I've created with other software do play in VLC.

Could someone shed some light on this, please?

a) do the dbpoweramp ogg files play in other players or

b) do the ogg files converted using another converter play in other players?

The answer to a) and b) is, yes, the files play on my Samsung Galaxy S and my Asus Transformer E pad

I've just downloaded Foobar2000 and can confirm that the dbpoweramp ogg files play in foobar2000. I had an idea that VLC was regarded as the Swiss Army Knife of media players but perhaps it isn't after all. I'm curious as to why the dbpoweramp files don't play in VLC but if it's a quirk of VLC rather than the dbpoweramp files then there's no problem.

I'll continue with the dbpowermap trial which I am enjoying a lot...

don't know why VLC is having trouble with the OGG files. But I can say that from years of haunting the digital music forums, VLC has never been the most recommended (or seemingly used) AUDIO player. I have VLC, it is nice, but I use it entirely for video playback on my computer. On a windows machine, I highly recommend foobar2000 as the "swiss army knife" of audio players. Also download the "facets" component for foobar2000. I find this allows me to setup a foobar2000 user interface that suits my use case very easily.

I can play OGG in VLC too, just not OGG produced by dbpoweramp. Do you mean you can play dbpoweramp produced OGG in VLC?

Yep.

Do you have a Codec Pack installed?
