    AR Rip Confidence 1 Question

    Hi,

I used EAC V1.0 Beta 3 for this rip and here's what I got. I'm confused why some other tracks "Cannot be verified as accurate" when they have the same Test & Copy CRC. So my question is, when I rip a CD and get only Confidence 1, does that mean the CD is not popular? What if the ones who submitted first in the Accurate Database ripped this CD with lots of errors or was ripping Pirated Copies of this disc? Does that count in the Confidence Level in the Accurate Rip Database? Considering this CD I ripped has long been out of print and there were just few original copies of this pressed here in my country. Thanks.

    Code:

Re: AR Rip Confidence 1 Question

I'm confused why some other tracks "Cannot be verified as accurate" when they have the same Test & Copy CRC.
The one in the AR database need not be any good. It could be scratched -- and it need not have been ripped using the more secure settings either. If you are really paranoid about this -- and since it is a rare CD you might want to do a little more to ensure the quality of the rip -- then try to rip it with a different drive and compare the CRCs.

So my question is, when I rip a CD and get only Confidence 1, does that mean the CD is not popular?
Yeah. What a shock that a Philippinean self-released death metal album isn't a blockbuster?

What if the ones who submitted first in the Accurate Database ripped this CD with lots of errors or was ripping Pirated Copies of this disc? Does that count in the Confidence Level in the Accurate Rip Database?
Of course. AccurateRip has of no way to track down the rightsholders and ask if this is the legitimate pressing, or a pirated copy, or an illicit release where the label ripped the band off

AccurateRip is supposed to verify that your rip matches someone else's. If someone took a CD, ripped it with errors (but with track lengths etc. right), pressed a pirate version and sold it, then you really shouldn't care about the well-being of those who bought it and who use AccurateRip to get evidence that 'it's a copy but at least it is a good copy'.

The concern should be whether your copy matches the AR entry. If someone has submitted an album before you, and you get a match, then most likely both rips are good -- no matter whether the other were a pirated one, because it is unlikely that they match by coincidence. If the already-submitted one had ripping errors, then you should get the result you got.

Re: AR Rip Confidence 1 Question

Thanks for the reply and taking time answering my questions Porcus. Anyway, I ripped the CD again in another computer with a different CD/DVD Drive brand and used my EAC settings and configured Accurate Rip etc.. and still got the same results. I compared the Test & Copy CRCs from both rips and they still have the same results. Therefore I conclude that my rip is legit and the ones submitted in the database beforehand was probably a bad rip. Btw, Im not Philippinean but a Filipino.
