    Hidden Tracks?

    I am trying to rip Amy Winhouse (Frank) and am questioning whether or not my settings are correct. This album as an Intro and an Outro.

    The tracks are listed as follows:
    Intro
    Stronger
    <several others in between>
    Amy Amy Amy
    Outro

    When I ripped it came up as....
    Track 1: Ripped LBA 0 to 17600 (3:54) in 0:17. Filename: C:\Users\Peter\Music\Amy Winehouse\Frank\01 Amy Winehouse - Intro-Stronger Than Me.flac
    AccurateRip: Accurate (confidence 10) [Pass 1]
    CRC32: 38011FF1 AccurateRip CRC: 4A503CB3 (CRCv2) [DiscID: 012-001521b3-00c4155c-820c990c-1]
    AccurateRip Verified Confidence 10 [CRCv2 4a503cb3]
    AccurateRip Verified Confidence 115 [CRCv1 ae710190]

    <several others in between>

    Track 12: Ripped LBA 182167 to 241911 (13:16) in 0:22. Filename: C:\Users\Peter\Music\Amy Winehouse\Frank\12 Amy Winehouse - Amy Amy Amy-Outro-Brother-Mr. Magic.flac
    AccurateRip: Accurate (confidence 9) [Pass 1]
    CRC32: B544D15A AccurateRip CRC: 8230B277 (CRCv2) [DiscID: 012-001521b3-00c4155c-820c990c-12]
    AccurateRip Verified Confidence 9 [CRCv2 8230b277]
    AccurateRip Verified Confidence 112 [CRCv1 6661e8bf]

    It appears that the following happened.
    - The Intro was grouped with the first song
    - The Outro was grouped with the last song
    - 2 other songs that arent' even listed on the album (Brother & Mr Magic) got bundld as well.

    I have 12 tracks ripped but the album lists them as 14 distinct tracks.

    I'm guessing either....
    - They are not actually distinct tracks on my pressing or...
    - I have an incorrect setting.

    Any help? My settings from the log are below. Does that help? Also, before I go and rip all of my CDs, any other settings that should get changed?

    Thanks a million!!!

    If you put in a normal CD player, skip to the last track and I bet it shows track number as 12... the disc will be using indexes.

      Re: Hidden Tracks?

      Insert a original CD in very good condition, don't do multitasking during test and check if you drive actually caches audio data using the Detect cache option, and if so the exact amount. In the past, I tested a Hitachi-LG reader based on Panasonic chipset (+102) and it caches audio data, 186 KB.

      Defeating cache when you drive doesn't cache audio data is a waste of time and an innecesary stress load for drive.

      Also, if drive supports C2 pointers you can safely increase the re-reads ammount. I always enter 750. In very, very exceptional cases (for example a CD with just 2/3 bad frames which can dump securely at all costs) I enter a extreme value like as 5000 or 10,000. Only if my drive doesn't cache audio data, or can use FUA.

      By the way, I don't see here anything abnormal. There is only a type of hidden tracks which require a special treatment and a drive capable of extracting it. The ones before track 1, index 1, hidden in track 1's pregap. For example, 311 - Transistor. dBpoweramp names such hidden tracks as "Hidden First Track (ability to rip depends on CD drive)", self-explanatory.
