File Naming problem?

Ok...so with your guys helped I ripped my first 2 discs to flac. I still haven't figured out the C2 question but I ripped with it on the passes set to 1-2-1 and they came back with confidence of over 100! So happy!

I did just figure out one problem. I left the file naming as default as I liked the layout. That should have been: Madonna\Immaculate\05 Madonna - Holiday

...like in the example.

Instead it is:
01 Adele - Rolling in the Deep

....When I look in the folder. What did I do wrong? I havened opened the files. Is it possible Windows Media Player screwed it up as I heard it likes to do???

In hindsight, that is they way the file looks when I browse to it through the folder.

When I open the Log it says: Filename: C:\Users\Peter\Music\Adele\21\01 Adele - Rolling in the Deep.flac

...which looks right. Although do I want the actual file name to include the "C:\Users\Peter\Music\" Is that normal/correct?

I guess I'm confused with how the file has one name under properties and another that appears when I view it in a folder. Part of me would like to see the album in the visible name. I feel like that could get confusing when I have several versions of a song (studio track, live, etc.). Thoughts?

The filename is seperate from the path name, the artist and album are used to set the folder name.

That all makes sense. I have never used iTunes but was thinking about usingthat as my lossy music management SW since I'm getting an ipod and have an ipad....unless there is something that makes more sense. (Suggestions welcome). I have heard that iTunes pretty much dumps everything into a library vs. folders.

Is there wisdom to incorporating the album into the actual file name so that each file is easily identifiable? Is that something dbp does? What is the predominant naming schema? I ask because as an example, I have about 3 different versions of certain songs.

I use itunes for managing my lossy files and loading up ipods, iphones, and ipads. Regarding naming scheme, you can do almost anything you want with dbpa. For me (and also the standard itunes approach), I use the following naming scheme:

x:\music\artist\album\track* - track name

(that is, I don't put album name or artist name in the file name itself, only the track number and track name. That's because this is redundant as I already know the album (the tracks are in the "album" subdirectory) and I already know the artist (the album subdirectory is in the Artist subdirectory).

The only exception is for COMPILATIONS. For them, they end up in:

x:\music\compilations\album\track* - trackname - artist

This is because these albums have different artists, so there is no ARTIST subdirectory to put them in. Here's the dynamic naming scheme I use to do all this automatically:
