accurate of 50 but track small noise ?

Hi All,

I ripped a track a while ago, (Ryan Adams - Gold) and on all tracks got a accurate result of 50. When listening to track 8, Nobody Girl, at 9:07 into the track sounds like a very small nosie that drops out on one speaker. Very slight and very quick ! Is this part of the track or something else ? I'm a bit of a worrier !!

If other people have the same result, then it is part of the mastering process.

ok, then its part of the track ? Did try listening to it on youtube the track to compare, didn't seem to make the same noise. Although the quality wasn't as good.

Yes is part of the track.

It is impossible (even with manufacturing defect) for 50 people to get the same defect.

Sorry spoon, wouldn't be a harddrive fault, like a bad sector or something ? Or its part of the track and stop worrying ?

You could rip it again to a 2nd file, the HDD would notr give the same fault in 2 separate files, also if ripping to FLAC it has an inbuilt CRC which highlights errors (if convert the FLAC to test conversion).

But surely if it got an accurate of 50, i'm pretty safe its ok ? Bit concerned now.
Does the CRC say if the file has a problem if its been there for a while ? And would the CRC show an error if you got a accurate rip of 50 ?

The built in protection of FLAC is independent of AccurateRip, it basically allows FLAC to self detect if a file has corrupted over time.

How do i test the file then ? Is it likely do you think there is a problem ? Is it common ?

Take the file, right click >> Convert To and select 'Test conversion', if completes without any error messages the file is not corrupted.

If it completed without an error then the track is as it should be the "noise" i hear is normal ?

If you listen to the CD on your computer with headphones (play it with media player, vlc, etc.), do you hear the same drop out? How about on a non-computer CD player?

I don't have the CD ad the moment as i've lent it out. I'm guessing if this "noise" is on the CD then it correct to have it on the rip and what with an accuarte result of 50 it would indicate that this is normal and nothing to worry about ?

correct. If the problem is on original CD (and this can be the case more often than one would guess), then the problem shows up on a accurate rip. Nothing to worry about.....
