Difference with same track but with same CD Ripper

    Good day.

    Something's strange with some discs.

There is a difference : accurate in some conditions, secure warning in other conditon but absolutely with the same CD / same CD Drive / same settings (Secure rip)

I explain with an example :

DbPoweramp V 14.2 (up to date)

Same CD Drive for the two cases : Plextor Premium 2 (IDE)

    ***************

    A) The Plextor inside an old computer under Windows XP / 32 bits

      Thank you Spoon
How is it possible with the same cd and same cd drive ?
I've repeated again this afternoon and it is the same story
One error with the Plextor inside the computer XP
Nothing when the Plextor is as an external drive with Windows 7

I cannot explain it, only report on the results given by the drive.

This is not what you were asking about, but: as long as you rip to lossless, I would advise against using HDCD detection. The HDCD flag is in the signal, so you could always detect it later. Furthermore, you may end up having different volume adjustments for different tracks on the same CD, even with CDs which are not using any HDCD features and should best be left as they are.

(And should you encounter one of the very few CDs which use all HDCD features, then in fact, at least one of these is lost when applying the software version. Nobody knows whether it will be captured by [insert name] HDCD-capable DAC either, but so may -- in principle -- be the case.)
