    ripping no longer works

Hi. I've been using cdripper for (not quite a lot of) time, without problems. Today it asked to recalibrate to cd drive to get the offset (?!), got the same result as before, and afterwards nothing gets ripped anymore. ripping fails almost immediately, i get error:
Error ripping to [Multi Encoder], 'Track 1' to 'C:\Users\Lorenzo\Music\Peter Gabriel\So\01 Peter Gabriel - Red Rain.IGNORE'
FLAC: Error unable to open File 'S:\musica-back\Peter Gabriel\So\01-Red Rain.flac' for writing. [clEncoder::BeginConversion]
Tried forcing to recalibrate, no effect.
Reistalled eac, which does rip without any difficoulty (as does itunes), which suggests the cd drive is not faulty....
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance
    Lorenzo

      Re: ripping no longer works

      That is quite interesting.

I have set up cdripper to multiencode, with 3 output destination:
      - flac into P:\musica-master\ [+ dynamic directory]
      - wav into Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Aggiungi automaticamente a iTunes\
      - flac into S:\musica-back\
and that's the way it has been working up to now (and it is still set up that way).
Ripping (a random disk) leads to:
      - ripping writing error almost immediately after starting reading a song
      - report:
Error ripping to [Multi Encoder], 'Track 1' to 'C:\Users\Lorenzo\Music\Kansas\Leftoverture\01 Kansas - Carry on Wayward Son.IGNORE'
FLAC: Error unable to open File 'S:\musica-back\Kansas\Leftoverture\01-Carry on Wayward Son.flac' for writing. [clEncoder::BeginConversion]
      [ .... and so on .... ]
      - the directory structure is indeed created into P:\musica-master\ with short flac files (33k) that nero says cannot be read as damaged
      - the same uncorrect files are added to the itunes directory
      and WHERE IS S:??!?

Indeed short investigation reveals that S: (backup disk) has got its power cable unplugged [*@%*!!]
Reconnecting it leads to cdripper working normally again: (report of ripping another random cd):
Information ripping to [Multi Encoder], 'Track 1' to 'C:\Users\Lorenzo\Music\Laura Pausini\Primavera Anticipo\01 Laura Pausini - Mille Braccia.IGNORE'
      Track 1: Ripped LBA 0 to 15669 (3:28) in 0:17. Filename: C:\Users\Lorenzo\Music\Laura Pausini\Primavera Anticipo\01 Laura Pausini - Mille Braccia.IGNORE
AccurateRip: Accurate (confidence 8) [Pass 1]
      CRC32: 61DA380A AccurateRip CRC: 9B572E08 (CRCv2) [DiscID: 014-001a3351-0118a853-c30c270e-1]

      AccurateRip Verified Confidence 63 [CRCv1 ee3be4f6]
      AccurateRip Verified Confidence 8 [CRCv2 9b572e08]
      AccurateRip Verified Confidence 63 [CRCv1 ee3be4f6]
      [ .... and so on .... ]

MORAL: it seems that in multiencoder if 1 of the several destination of the ripped music is not accessible the ripping process does not work for the other destinations as well, actually creating some files but which does not contain the music ripped (actually no ripping is taking place as each song fails in about 1 sec).

Thanks v much for your prompt help
Nevertheless, I m to say I find the behaviour a bit weird, maybe some more explicit error reporting could help ....
      (sorry for long reply)
