Strange problem with album art.

CD Ripper has stopped letting me import album artwork. ...

I picked up a family pack to install dbPowerAmp at home and at work, then set off to rip my collection into MP3 varable and Flac. I ripped a bunch of CD's last week at work and started on a project of ripping a 100 CD set of jazz music using the same jpg as the album artwork for each CD. I'm not using default artwork in this set because CD ripper is coming up with some unrelated pictures for those CD's. Came back to work this morning and noticed that 7 of the 20 CD's I had ripped in that series did not have the artwork I selected. I deleted those folders and started ripping those CD's again. I drag the artwork onto the section at the bottom left to assign artwork to the CD and it shows up. I rip the CD and it rips with the artwork it defaulted to use in the first place. I thought something may have happened to corrupt the jpg I was using so I coppied "folder.jpg" from one of the sucessful rip folders from last week. Still no change. It is like CD Ripper decided to not let me import my own artwork anymore.

I've searched Google and tried to find a setting that may have changed, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

I was getting a lot of artwork failures as well, so I upgraded from 14.1r to 14.2r - didn't help.

I was also suddenly no longer getting the Sonata DB results and going from 14.1r to 14.2r didn't help on that either.

hmmmmmmmmm ... I'm now getting artwork sometimes, but in the case of Nirvana: Nevermind, there wasn't any, so I clicked "choose art" and it went out on the net and showed me a massive list of various jpgs of the correct cover. I chose one and it worked. I then tried clearing metadata and starting from scratch - same thing - no artwork until I clicked on "choose art" - and I have still not seen Sonata DB in 14.1r or 14.2r for at least a day - maybe more. In another thread, duffer had the problem, then said he put in another CD and Sonata reappeared, but I've tried quite a few classical CDs and have yet to see Sonata again

I'm using dual rip to MP3 variable and flac which saves time. I'm also really happy with the meta info. For classical it is much closer than any other program I have used. For now I would settle for a way to get the pictures embedded after ripping. I can use WMP to change the album art on the MP3vb files but I'm not sure how to change the art for the flac.

Just noticed something while examining the files under Windows 7. The new album art I am dropping onto dBpoweramp is being stored as back cover art instead of replacing the front cover art. If I drag the picture on twice the second instance goes in as leaflet art. In windows seven I can examine the mp3 and flac files and change the artwork in the following method.

Store the artwork in the album folder as "folder.jpg"
Select all of the music files in the folder, right click, and choose properties.
Click on the ID-Tag tab.
At the bottom of the window you can remove incorrect artwork or artwork applied to the back cover.
Click "Add Album Art"
Click "Impot from Folder.jpg"
In the pop up window select OK.
Apply

This will change artwork album at a time. Hopefully there is a fix that will help me avoid doing this so many times.

It depends on how you add art, if loading from File then click [-] to remove any existing then + to add the new art.

So the remaining issues are:

1) why does the automatic artwork feature sometimes fail?
2) is there some reason why it suddenly seems to have started failing more often?
3) is it "to spec" that, when clicking "Review Meta Data", the SonataDB column fails to appear? (other headings, like AMG, GD3 and MusicBrainz, appear even if there is no data-the column title buttons are greyed out but still show the name)
4) is there some reason why SonataDB is suddenly not working as it did in June and July with 14.1r?

It depends on how you add art, if loading from File then click [-] to remove any existing then + to add the new art.

OK. I understand how this works now. I was on a totally different track....

If the wrong artwork pops up I assumed I could click on "Choose Art", select the image I want, and that would replace the default image. I also assumed that dragging an image in would replace the current "wrong" image. Instead either process adds another image instead of replacing and that extra image is saved at back cover art. When I first bought dBpoweramp I experiemented with one CD by hitting plus and minus a few times and saw images scroll. I assumed this was a way of selecting the image I want. Instead it was adding and subtracting those images to a list.

So, the correct proceedure when the artwork that pops up is wrong is ...
1. Use the "-" to remove images until the icon area is blank.
2. Either click the "Choose Art" button and select the new image or drag an image to that location.

I wish I had realized this before ripping about 300 CD's. Looks like about half of my images are not what I thought was being saved. Well, it could have been worse. I have about 2000 CD's in my collection to rip. I could have been much further along before noticing this problem.
