CD Ripper fails to recognise CD drive

My CD Ripper just displays an <No CD Drive Found> when I open it.

I am using an Acer Aspire 7720 laptop running Windows 7.

The program has worked fine up until today. I've been running W7 for some months.

I've uninstalled CD Ripper 3.0 and installed the latest 3.1 to no avail.

Other programs detect the drive fine and audio CDs play fine in Media Player and Winamp.

[EDIT] I've installed open source ripper CDex and it detects my CD first time with no errors.

I have had the same problem after using the ripper successfully for 2 years. I have uploaded the latest edition (14) but yo no avail.
Also in recent months the software could never find any album covers so I had to scan them into the system myself.
I installed CDex as well. This could see the CD player but did not know the names of the tracks or album so it was a bit of a waste of time.

Try CD Ripper >> Options >> Communication to Windows Built in.

If you have Kasparsky it has been known to block dBpoweramp from accessing the CD drive.

You are absolutely right - Kaspersky is the problem. Thanx :smile2:

Had same problem. By making dbpoweramp low restricted (rather than high restricted which was previously on) have managed to keep Kaspersky on and use dbpoweramp.
