One in 40 CD rip speed .2

I normally have no trouble whatsoever ripping CD's to flac. However, the odd cd, sometimes a brand new Cd, rips at a very very low speed .2 making it impossible to rip. BUT, rip it to windows media player is no problem. I then burn it to a blank CD and then it rips OK. WHY?

BUT .... I now have a CD that is a real problem - it is a new, a 2002 album goes into media player no problem, plays in a cd player, no problem but the MP software spits it out at a midway point of burning to CD ... WHY?

    HELP? EXPLANATION PLEASE !!!

Try ripping the problem CDs in 'Burst' mode, this is similar to WMP, just to see what the ripping speed is like.

If you ask me, it is the CD drive which is deciding to slow down, because it is having difficulty reading.

Why would it have difficulty reading when media player and cd players have no problem? You think another cd drive may be OK? Could I download the software to another PC and try it? Is there a trial version?

Downloaded the trial version (can you give me a key to make it permanent as I would need to use this one every now and again) to my other PC and it is ripping it OK !!!

Why does the other drive rip 29 out of 30 Ok but then trip up now and again? Do you advise external drives?

When I opened the newly installed software and loaded this CD it came up with a message something like 'would you like accuraterip to configure your drive using this CD - I said yes. I cannot recall getting this message with I installed on the other PC?

We have no keys, only registered download links, see your registration email.

Both PCs would have configured AccurateRip. An external drive is always a good idea for a laptop which has lots of discs to rip, as the internal drive can wear, where as an external drive is easy to replace.

                  Ok - thanks Spoon.

What external CD drive would you recommend?
