    Question about DSP???

What is the difference between the two ReplayGain (Apply)? Which one do I use. I am archiving all my cds and I want the best possible sound. Should I use any other dsp's besides the one mentioned?

    Thanks,
    Matt

For archiving, do not use the Apply (which changes the audio volume), instead use the normal replaygain calculation which writes to the tags.

What is the difference between track and album gain? Do I also check-off album gain in addition to track gain?

      Thanks,

        Thanks,
yes, check both. Can't hurt to have both even if you don't currently use both. Players that use replaygain can use either under different circumstances. Album gain is used when you are playing an entire album and want the variation in volume across the album songs to remain (i.e., soft songs on an album vs louder songs on an album). Track gain is more like "radio station" playback, where one is playing songs from different albums and wants ALL songs played to be about the same volume level.

For album gain, think about a live album that is gapless. If playing with track gain, you'll notice a shift in volume when it goes from one track to the other. But with album gain, there would be no change in volume within the album.
