Does drive ripping speed impact accuracy/quality?

I believe the recommended setting is to leave ripping speed at maximum. For a modern SATA DVD drive where max is 40x or 48x, do these higher speeds affect accuracy or quality (would lower speeds perform better?)?

Separately, does the inclusion of lightscribe or other laser writing feature impact accuracy/qualiy in any way? Thanks.

Modern drives rip with less errors at highspeed than at lower.
