    C2 Error

I recently bought R14 Reference. My collection has lot of CDs in my native language that are not in accurate rip, so I have to rely on secure ripping.

If I have C2 flag off, it goes through 2 normal pass and one ultra secure pass and if I have it on, it goes through 1 normal pass and 1 Ultra pass.

My drive has reported it can read C2 error, I used a scratched disc.

Is it safe to say that it doesn't matter if your drive really supports the C2 error flag or not, its better to keep it on because if every pass returns same error, it will be marked as secure rip, which may not be correct.

I am having trouble with few CDs that are coming as secure rip if I have C2 error flag off but error out if I have C2 error flag on, saying it had 200+ frames that needed to be re-read.

Don't know if this can be because these are one of those CDs that you can't be run on computer and have copy protection. I have the Autorun set to off through dbpoweramp CD ripper and as well as registry.

CDs are scratch-less, I doubt they have issues.

So why am I getting these 2 diff. results and whats the best setting for C2 error.

    Thanks

    Re: C2 Error

You would have to check if the disc is copy protected.

Re-ripping will catch most errors (but let the occasional one through)
C2 will catch most errors (but let the occasional one through)

So it is best to have multiple passes (re ripping in other rippers) and c2 on.

Yes the discs do have copy protection for sure. I have 4 of them. All of them resulted in lot of errors with C2 ON but worked out well when it was off.

So are my rips reliable? The discs are scratch less believe me.

You cannot rip discs with copy protection reliably as they have intentional errors.
