Rip errors on 2011 MacBook Pro

Recently bought a new 2011 MacBook Pro -- my wife had had enough of me using hers all the time. :smile2:

But things don't work so well on the new rig. I'm ripping on her MacBook because I get errors on mine. Her MacBook gives me error free rips (AccurateRip or ultra secure,) but mine resorts to re-ripping frames (which is very slow,) ultimately resulting in a suspect rip.

I've configured AccurateRip on both. (Took 50+ discs to find key discs for the new MacBook Pro optical drive.)

    Old setup (that works):
    13" MacBook, drive: HL-DT-ST - DVDRW GS21N
    dbPowerAmp version R13
Windows XP Pro (running via Bootcamp)

    New setup (rip problems):
    13" MacBook Pro, drive: Matshita DVD-R UJ-8A8
    dbPowerAmp version R14
Windows 7 Ultimate (running via Bootcamp)

Anything about R13 vs R14 that would cause me problems? Or XP vs 7? I suspect it's the optical drives in the new MacBooks are just inferior. Anyone else experiencing similar issues? Or know of a suitable replacement optical drive that is known good for ripping? (Moses, how I miss the Plextor glory days.)

Maybe I try trading drives between the MacBooks??? (I only need ripping ability on the new MacBook.)
