Key Disc cannot be used for offset detection

Hi, I am testing several BD drives for ripping my CD, DVD, and BD collection, in order to find fastest drive to rip in shortest time.
Two of the six drives always give an error that the key disc cannot be used.

The two drives are very new model drives, and I'm wondering if that is the cause, e.g. maybe the online DB does not have info on them, or something like that?

These are the drives I tested:
LG BH12LS35: No go
Sony BD-5300S: No go
LG UH10LS20: Ok
Plextor PX-B940SA: Ok
Lite-On iHBS212: Ok
Pioneer BDR-206: Ok

When I rip the key disc using an "ok" drive, accurate rip reports 11 matches.
When I rip the key disc using a "no go" drive, accurate rip reports 200 matches.

I've tried several other popular artist US manufactured discs, those two drives still have problems with the key disc.

There is a very old thread on this forum reporting a similar problem, and the solution was to keep on trying many different discs.

I am looking for a more deterministic solution vs. spending an unknown amount of time randomly trying an unknown number of discs?

The first two drives are not currently in AccurateRip so you have to have 3 matching discs where the disc does not have a different pressing in the database, so you have to keep trying different discs until it keys.

The next update of AccurateRip (later this month) might add those drives, so that key disc could be used.

May I suggest that the client messaging be updated to be more specific as to what action to take.

I'm experiencing a similar issue with a new 2011 MacBook Pro, running Windows 7. The drive is a Matshita DVD-R UJ-8A8.

I've put about 30 discs in and still no luck -- just keep trying?

I'm using a MacBook Pro with a MATSHITADVD-R UJ-868 and I'm also not having any luck finding 3 key discs.

Went to the AccurateRip key disc page and read this "there are over 20,000 key discs in the database it should be easy to configure AccurateRip." Glad the "should" was put in there, because it's anything but ... 50 discs and counting.

Does AccurateRip really help the quality of ripping CDs? If so, I'll persist; if it's more of a case of nice to have perhaps I'll proceed without it.

Addendum: Putting in several CDs message comes up saying the CD can be used to configure AccurateRip. But when I press configure, message comes up that the CD isn't in the database, use (yet) another CD. Does anyone know what's happening and if there's anything I can do, except keep trying? Thank you.

It is the only way to be 100% sure there are no errors.
