Restricted Character - dot

I want to change the character for dot/period/fullstop to something else in filenames, except for the . that separates the file extension.

When I try to add . to _ to the restricted characters I am getting files with _flac on the end instead of .flac

Is there a way to do this? Thanks

Ok Thanks for the reply.

A small script will do the trick, but the . shows up rarely enough that I probably won't bother. :D
