When it starts saying, re-ripping frames, does this mean there's a problem with the CD or the drive as it can't read it properly? The disc's are nit marked or scratched or very light marks. I look after my cd's. Got a couple of discs that go to re-rip. Tried two different laptop drives and various speeds. Worried it might be mine cd's.

Re: Re-rip frames
Correct, sections of the disc have problems. Discs can have manufacturing defects which are invisible to the eye. -

Re: Re-rip frames
The frames will re-rip until they are accurate, or they are not, some frames might need 20 tries to get them accurate.Comment

Re: Re-rip frames
Not every disc can be recovered (ripped correctly), for those discs replacing them is the only option.
A different drive might help, it might not be susceptible to the same kind of reading error.Comment

Re: Re-rip frames
If you're willing to settle for lossy tracks, this can work.
I recently attempted to rip a CD (Tom Waits, "Real Gone") that was used and had been abused. Three of the tracks could not be ripped, lots of scratch damage. I just ripped the rest, and downloaded the missing three tracks from iTunes. To keep the files the same format, I converted the lossy AAC files to flac, and put them in the same folder as the ripped tracks. I can barely tell difference between the two sources on this CD. But then it's Tom Waits, even on this late CD a bit rough and ready.

Re: Re-rip frames
Actually its NOT the only option. You can use CueTools to potentially recover a bad rip using the CueTools Database! This is an open database with the ability to repair rips that cannot be recovered completely. It could be implemented in dBpoweramp as well.Comment

Re: Re-rip frames
more on cuetools:
This is a feature that would REALLY help make the next version of dBpoweramp a true step forward! http://db.cuetools.net/ Spoon, if you don't want to add support, at least PLEASE open up the DSP architecture so that support could be added.
the CTDB is not currently integrated into dbpoweramp, though it is open and spoon could add support, but currently does not feel that there is enough demand for it.Comment
