    Unable to read CD ???

Tried using EAC. Copying whole image (whole disc as single file) worked. Trying to copy a single track did NOT work (wouldn't read the disc). I figured EAC was just crappy software.

So now I'm trying dB. And it won't work either. Keeps saying it can't read the CD. Every disc. Every track. Always fails. The CD doesn't even spin up - just fails.

Any clues? My whole computer system is less than 1 month old and the driver+firmware for my CD/DVD drive is up to date

    .

Re: Unable to read CD ???

If I launch dB and immediately click "Rip" the disc will rip.

If I select only 1 track or re-select all tracks I get the following error for every track select (I have replaced names and numbers with nnn and XXX):

Error ripping to FLAC, 'Track nnn' to 'C:\XXX'
Unable to read CD, check CD disc (frame LBA nnn ripping nnn frames track end LBA nnn) [clRipperSecure::Rip]

Also, when I try to detect C2 support the progress bar remains gray and the CD drives sounds inactive.

I have also noticed that attempting to play tracks in dB causes the cursor to simply move down the list until the end of the list is reached. Tracks don't actually get played.

        Try:

...also how to do a full reset of dBpoweramp? (if dBpoweramp crashes for some reason) Where does dBpoweramp save its files / settings? It is installed to c:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp or c:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp The 64 bit version of dBpoweramp is installed to: c:\Program Files\dBpoweramp It

A full clear then reinstall, and try ripping on the default settings.

Great. Thanks. Not only did it remove dBpoweramp... but now Windows can't find my CD/DVD drive.

Okay... After restarting a second time my drive shows up. Whew!

I open dB. Allowed it to configure AccurateRip. Did not change any settings myself.

I was able to rip single tracks. So that's progress. But... that's in BURST mode.

I tried to detect C2 and I still had no success. There is no activity from the drive. Eventually the task times out and dB reports that either the CD has no scratches or the drive does not support C2.
            :(

Perhaps c2 is not supported, try ripping in secure with c2 off.

Ripping securely WITHOUT C2 works fine.

This drive is reported to support C2. However, both dB and EAC generate the same problem while trying to detect C2 support. Both programs cause the drive to spin down and/or power-off. dB takes it even further and causes my drive to become un-accessible (not present under Computer, not listed in Device Manager, cannot be added as a device). Shutting down after this occurs sometimes cannot complete and I must force the computer to power-off. My drive appears and functions normally after reboot.

I would say it is safe to say c2 is not supported (well, or even at all) on your drive, the CD drive should never self remove from the system (when it does this the drive crashes internally).
