    ripped tracks create stuttering audio

For some strange reason, every time I rip an audio CD with dBpoweramp CD Ripper the resulting audio tracks become stuttering audio. I am trying to rip to FLAC and the compression level is set to 6. When I play the resulting FLAC file with foobar2000 or jrmc, I get a 16-bit/44.1Khz track with a bitrate of 156 kbps. Obviously a losslessly compressed CD track should have a much higher bitrate.

When I try ripping a CD, the completed tracks show the rip status as X AR (9) and Secure. AR, I assume means AccurateRip, and it is red. Does this mean the AccurateRip result is good or bad? These rips take forever. It took about 53 minutes for just the first 2 tracks of a CD. This CD is an unscratched, practically brand new disc. This problem occurs with any CD.

    Here are my settings:
    Ripping Method = Secure
    Pass 1 = AccurateRip Verified
Pass 2 (this is grayed out with yellow highlight showing limit drive speed = maximum)
Ultra Secure = enable ultra secure ripping is checked; vary drive speed each pass is not
Individual Bad Frames = maximum re-reads=34; set drive speed=maximum
    Drive Read Cache=1024KB
Clear REad Cahch with FUA is checked
C2 Error Pointer for Error Detection is checked
    8KB Transfers is not checked
Secure Rip Abort = all options are set to 'no abort'
Interpolate Unrecoverable Frames is not checked
Mark Track as Error if Insecure is not checked
Secure Extraction Log - Report contents=Simple; write to file is not checked; add to information log is checked
AccurateRip - Query Ripping Results with AccurateRip is checked
Meta Data - I believe these are just the defaults, because I haven't changed anything here.
    CD ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST (this is an LG Blu-ray burner)
    CD Drive: BD-RE WH10LS30

I am running dBpoweramp on a relatively new PC. It has an Intel Core i3 540 CPU, 4GB RAM, and is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I recently upgraded to SP1, but I first noticed this problem before installing SP1. I have used dBpoweramp successfully on a different PC, but all settings seem to be the same. The only difference is slightly different hardware (an Intel Core2Duo) and DVD burners instead of a BD-RE drive.

Any ideas why this is happening?

    Thanks for your help.

    Try disabling c2 pointers.

I tried that and it solved the problem. It now rips and encodes a normal FLAC file. However, it now seems really fast. It must be ok, because the status show that it was "Accurate".

Anyhow, it just seems odd that it went from taking ~25 minutes per track to ~25 seconds per track. Is there anything I should check to make sure I'm getting a completely accurate rip?

      Thanks for your help.

25 seconds per track is normal, 25 minutes is not. If it verifies with accuraterip then it is accurate.

I'm having stuttering audio in FLAC files ripped from CDs. Tried replacing drives but issue is still present. How does one disable c2 pointers?

When you ripped the CD, what was the Rip Status of each track e.g. Accurate, Secure, Insecure etc.?

What player are you using that exhibits the stuttering?

            To disable C2 Pointers:
CDRipper >> Menu >> CDRipper Options >> Secure Settings
and un-tick C2 Error Pointers for Error Dectection

Thanks, they're all secure/accurate. Happens in all players including Squeezebox. BTW.. OS is Win10 64b

So you don't have a problem ripping CDs and don't need to disable C2 Pointers.

What player are you using that exhibits the stuttering?

Happens in all players, VLC, Win Media Player, JRiver, including Squeezebox. On playback it almost sounds like skipping. When re-ripping the skipping/stuttering is seems to be in the same cuts and places in the recording. C2 pointers are unticked.

What OS are you using, what are your PC specs?

Can you play other audio files or download a test flac and see if you still have a problem on playback?

Rip to wave, try to play it and if that wave file stutters, then install 'Audacity' which is a visual editor, it will show the wave form. If there were stuttering you would see the wave form malformed at that point (if you zoom in).
