    Windows home server permission problem

Probably not a DBpoeramp problem but any help appreciated.

I am ripping CD's in FLAC & MP3 to WHS device and playing via Sonos.

after riping a dozen or so CD's to WHS ASPIREHOME\MUSIC\FLAC and ASPIREHOME\MUSIC\MP3 found out that Sonos only goes down the path as far as \MUSIC. Obvioulsy I want it to use the FLAC for best quality. So on WHS shared folders created folders caled 'Music FLAC' and 'Music MP3' .

Tried to change DBpoweramp to output to these folders but get a message 'Windows cannot access ASPIREHOME\Music FLAC......Do not have permission'

I checked the access of the only user I have setup(other than guest) and it has full access to everything.

Strange thing though, I change password of the user and it says it's been set, however when I close console down and start again it doesnt recognise the new password. Or are these 2 different things ?

I saw in a Linn forum a similar problem with QNAP NAS, which was sorted out by QNAP techies, but user mentioned something about DBpoweramp logon, does DBpoweram need a logon to access WHS device, could this be the problem ?

Any help or suggestions greatfully recieved.

Re: Windows home server permission problem

dBpoweramp will use the windows credentials, so for your testing you need to use your PC and Windows Explorer, browse to the network share, your FLAC folder and try to create a file (right click in the blank window and create a new text file). Windows should ask for your user name and password when accessing the share, type it in and click the remember credentials.

Got as far as trying to access \\ASPIREHOME then got message that it's not accessable. You might not have permission to use the network.....referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to.

For info I had previously re-booted WHS and pc use for accessing console.

If you are running Windows 7, select start and type:

        manage network passwords

Remove any stored passwords for your acer box, so you can re-enter them

Seem to have fixed it, not sure why but changed user account and password to same as PC and it seems to be ok.

Thanks for your help Spoon. It's a good job you charge for DBpoweramp, unless your a bored millionaire.
