I've found a bug which I can repeat. I've got two discs where some of the tracks won't rip accurately (though there are no scratches). When I ask dBpoweramp to re-rip only inaccurate rips, it seems to use a different algorithm on the problem tracks. Problem is, that alternative eventually hangs the machine. I've noticed that the machine gets so busy that it won't respond to any keyboard input or mouse clicks. Eventually the screen goes dark - but its not the screen saver time-out. The screen isn't really black either - instead just a very, very dark gray. Meantime the CD drive is grinding away in what seems to be an intelligent pattern. The only way to recover is to hit the reset button. This is repeatable.
I'm not sure if a drive on your test machine would work the same way, but I'm willing to send you the problem CD so you could possibly replicate the problem and fix it.
Meantime, do you have any idea why a well cared-for disc without scratches would be generating rip errors? I have two that won't rip. I thought about getting one of those scratch repair devices, but the CDs aren't scratched.
Thanks.
