Choppy Audio When Playing CD Through CD Ripper

When I play tracks in CD Ripper the audio gets choppy when there's any activity on the computer (opening applications, clicking buttons, etc.). The computer can play CDs in other applications without any trouble. Is there a setting that can fix this?

CD Ripper is not really designed for extended playback, rather previewing.
