Extremely slow ripping AIFF and WAV

Just ripped my first CD's with dBpoweramp. One in AIFF and 1 in WAV. Both extremely slow at around 0.6-0.8x speed.

I use the trial version. This is the full version if I'm correct and should support multiple CPU? Yet I see only CPU is used.
Perhaps this is the chicken or the egg story? If the drive is extremely slow, then it doesn't need the other CPU's in my quad core I7....

But as my drive rips very fast in iTunes or Windows Media Player, I suspect a setting in dBpoweramp.
    What did I overlook?

    Thanks!

I have set up dBpoweramp according to the setup tutorial.
Still the ripping is extremely slow.
Is there anything else I can try?

Are you using Multi-Encoder? set the encoder as 'Test Conversion' to see what the raw ripping speed is.

I continued to test ripping CD's. Initially at the same low speed of around 0.6x regardless of the audio format. But after a number of rips, all of a sudden in the middle of a new rip the speed picked up and I'm clocking 24x. This has now remained stable, even with mulit-encoding to 3 formats I'm getting these higher speeds.

However, I have a quad core Intel i7 but dBpoweramp only uses 1 CPU.
How can I further increase the speed, using more than 1 CPU? Is there a setting I should change?

          Thanks!

If ripping to lossless the slowest part is the CD drive, so there is no need for multi-cpus (as the CPU is 20x faster at encoding than reading the cd).
