Why is all the music I rip a little longer than....

Why is all the music I rip a little longer than what is listed on back of the cd? All my times are a little longer than what the cd has stated? One song is 4:34, but when I rip it it is 4:38?

I am using db14 secure rip compression (5)?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
not sure, but I'm guessing that the gap on a CD between songs (at least most songs on most CDs have a short gap) has to be appended somewhere. Most rippers, including dbpa I believe, append this "silence" to the end of a ripped track (vs the beginning of the next track). So the ripped track "appears" to be longer but the audio is no longer than if you played the CD itself.
