i like the idea of having everything generated with 1 button.

so dbpoweramp is able to of course use freedb to obtain info and set proper filenames and tags. we can further customize how dir/filenames can be generated. it can download appropriate cd cover.. but can it generate a .m3u playlist?

Yes in R7 of the DSP effects is a playlist writer.
